How to Photoshop Your Real Life Face: The Best Primer for Large Pores

best primer for large pores

I would be lying if I acted like I wasn’t shocked by the reflection that meets me in this guy every morning.

On a scale of small’ish pores to a face that looks like the peel of an orange, I could possibly be confused for the orange on most mornings. If you have large pores, I know you can relate.

And that is why I feel compelled to tell you about my new favorite product. It is by far the best primer for large pores I have ever gotten my hands on.

best primer for large poresI’m talking about YSL’s two newest products, the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Primer and the Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Perfector.

Oh, primer.

The one staple that make-up artists are always telling us common folk to invest in.

As with most expert advice, I [totally unwisely] ignore it. Mostly because there’s these three little people who wake up in my house every morning and are all like, “aren’t you going to feed us or something?” Children these days…mighty high maintenance. Go figure.

BUT. This stuff, you guys.

It’s amazing – did you know you can have pores that rival the size of the Grand Canyon and this stuff goes all Honey-I-Shrunk-the-Kids on ’em so that you look like a freaking Photo-shopped, walking filter?!?!

So there’s definitely gold glitter throughout this primer, which made me a bit nervous because I’m a law firm office manager and nothing screams “I really am a professional” better than wearing glitter to the workplace.

But the glitter is not super obvious.

It’s really a gel that reminds me more of a moisturizing serum than your typical primer. It gives you a glow but still dries matte.

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Perfector: My New Can’t-Live-Without

best primer for large poresNow I like the Blur Primer, but I love, love, love the Blur Perfector.

But I have to be honest, I’m not exactly using it like you’re supposed to.

It’s made to wear over your foundation (I use this kind) to set your face or as a mid-day touch up. And maybe it’s user-error (never would I ever claim to be a make-up-artist!), but when I try to press it on over my make-up, I come out looking patchy and streaky.

When I use it as a primer under my make-up or just wear it alone, it makes my skin look ah-mazing!

Because I love the sun, I struggle with skin discoloration, and the blur perfector literally blurs out my dark spots.

Just a few swipes of the face, and wham bam thank you ma’m, my face be looking flawless!

The Blur Perfector is my outward reminder that although my most favorite pair of pants in the whole world were mistaken for a napkin at lunch time by a certain unnamed 4 year old, and I may be rocking a girdle for my post-partum poochI still deserve to feel beautiful.

The moral of the story is I am now obsessed with all things Touche Eclat. Perhaps I need to give this guy a try next…
